Asher is 10 weeks! I jotted down a few notes last week while we were driving to Minnesota. (By the way, driving long distances is a whole new ballgame with a baby!!) A few updates on what he’s doing these days:
He holds his head up strong and likes to be up on a shoulder where he can hang on and look around. He hasnt rolled over during tummy time in awhile, but I’m sure he still can. He loves his teal elephant, Ellie. If we put it on his chest, he grabs it with both hands and brings it up to his mouth and squeezes it. If you brush his face with it, he smiles 🙂 He likes the softness, rattle and the crinkly noise it makes.
He likes the little teal bird on his car seat too, he watches it and has tried to bat at it a couple times. On our way back home, he was smiling at it and having a little conversation 🙂
His hands are big, like little mitts. His feet are so cute. He’ll grab onto your finger with his toes! He doesn’t like the idea of standing, doesn’t like his feet touching your lap or floor. I’m sure that will change soon!
He’s a great eater! And his poop still smells like movie popcorn, haha!! Too much information? Welcome to my blog 😉
He still has red hair! His eyebrows are red. But his eyelashes aren’t. The little fuzzies on top of his head look blonder to me. We’ll see what happens!
He’s been smiling for a few weeks- I think it started in Canada, on June 4th. Now he smiles when we do, when he hears his name, and when he sees a familiar face. Sometimes he just smiles to himself when he’s looking around exploring. He’s always very smiley after a feeding! He sometimes wakes up from naps smiling, and still drifts off to sleep with a little smile too 🙂
He doesn’t giggle yet, but I think we’re VERY close. He nearly did it a few times in Minnesota!
Jamie’s favorite thing is when he sticks his lip out to pout. Of course, he doesn’t like it when he’s unhappy, but it’s just so darn cute!
We’ve been working on word volley. I say something and pause, and he’s learning to fill the space. We’re working on copying vowel sounds too. He watches my mouth and tries to mimic it.
He likes bath time! He gets nervous when we lower him in, but once he’s in the warm water, he smiles. He likes a warm wet washcloth on his chest while I wash his hair. He doesn’t like getting his face washed. He doesn’t splash around yet, he’s pretty mellow. It’ll be fun when he does!
He got a new play mat from Auntie Liz, and he loves it! He smiles and coos and kicks and bats around like crazy! I took some pictures of him this morning. As I’m typing this, he’s playing again, and he grabbed onto one of the toys! He held it, shook it and rattled it for quite awhile. Victory!
Handsome boy!As for me, I’m doing my best to balance mommy/baby time with my work. Right now I’m working on a wedding edit while he plays next to me. I narrate to him what I do all day, and smile at him and kiss his little feet between emails. I get as much done as possible while he’s napping, but sometimes I just like to let him drift off in my arms and watch him sleep. I don’t want these amazing newborn days to pass us by 🙂
